What To Buy The Love Of Your Life For Christmas

By Shaun Parker

Yes, I”m afraid it’’s that time of year again - the gift giving season, the season of good will to all men, the time to forgive and forget all previous transgressions and join together for fun, food, drinking, general merriment and a little auld lang syne.

Ok, I exaggerate, a touch of sarcasm creeping in. It’’s not everyone’’s favourite time of year due to the pressure being on. It hasn”t helped that over the past year the country has been sunk into the doom and gloom of a recession. Crime rates are soaring, death and destruction is all around but hey, don”t worry, we still have Christmas to look forward to!

Oh and god forbid you should get the present for him or her indoors wrong! Get the wrong gift and the recession will be the last of your worries. You will pay for your mistake with constant reminders over the course of the year with all your attempts at recompense rebuffed.
This is because Christmas is the one time of year where everybody is getting a present and the competition is fierce. Get it wrong and your partner has the humiliation of showing a sub-standard gift to friends and family and believe me - you will pay!

So, how to get it right? Well, the best option is to go for something of tasteful quality that is not necessarily ostentatious but certainly worth showing off. This doesn”t necessarily mean something big or extravagant but think wisely my friend.

One option is a new wristwatch. This could be for either sex and comes in a wide price range so there will be a wristwatch out there affordable to all. This is a pretty safe bet because even if your loved one already has one, you can guarantee that a new one will go down just as well. It’’s as good as a piece of jewellery which is also a good choice but it has a practical value also.

A wristwatch can be worn on a daily basis or saved for special occasions. It can be shown off to great effect with ease - a flick of the wrist, an obvious time check, short sleeved tops - all ways that your loved one can help other people appreciate your special gift.

For other ideas, you could also try an experience. Depending on your budget, there are choices such as balloon rides, driving experiences or days out. These bring some excellent memories that can be shared through photographs but you really need to assess your partners requirements. Without a solid, tangible gift your head really could be on the block.

Almost any type of jewellery would be a good investment as a present, particularly for women. All women love something pretty. This is also a good thing to remember if you go down the route of buying the said wristwatch as a Christmas present.

Watches have always been made with specific designs for men and women. Women’’s wristwatches have always been more delicate in design, with added extras such as gems. They will also have a wholly more feminine look with smaller hands, smaller circumference and wide choice of colours.

If the love of your life is a man, there is still a great choice of wristwatch options if this is your choice of gift. Some come with a sporting theme while others are more classical looking. Some will have enough added extras to make Inspector Gadget jealous and some will be fit for diving to great depths.

Another fine choice, if you can afford it, is a second hand watch. Not just any old watch but a good quality one with a proven provenance that shows its history. These are collectors pieces that will be treasured forever.
