Stylish And Comfortable Tights For Mums-To-Be
By Helen Worsley
Tights are an essential item in a woman’’s closet. It is believed that originally tights were worn by men who put them on for horseback riding. But centuries ago tights differed from hosiery which people have now. Full length dresses allowed women to cover their legs so tights were not necessary until the beginning of the 20th century. The fashion industry changed a lot and women began to wear shorter dresses. Of course, nobody knew about tights for special occasions, such as maternity tights, for example.
The first tights for women came as stockings made of silk or rayon. The invention of nylon made it possible to produce nylon stockings. Yet they had a significant disadvantage. Nylon couldn”t stretch so manufacturers of tights had to produce them in a variety of sizes to make tights fit any woman. Originally, nylon tights had seams at the back which was rather uncomfortable, and only the invention of Lycra eventually made tights stretching.
Since those times tights underwent many changes, and modern women can enjoy a wide variety of tights which come in various designs and colours. At the same time new materials made modern tights rather durable, and women could forget about any inconveniences associated with tights. Modern tights also provide slimming and supporting effects. It is especially relevant for mums-to-be who have to wear maternity tights.
It goes without saying that expectant mothers want to remain attractive and stylish during their pregnancy. Some women are used to wearing tights on a daily basis as they like dresses and skirts, and tights are necessary when women move to warmer seasons. Some women work at companies where employers frown upon bare legs. So when ladies experience some body changes they start to worry whether it is possible to continue wearing their favourite clothes at later stages of pregnancy. At the same time some women experience pain in their back due to changes in weight and need additional back support. Maternity tights help to solve these problems.
Modern tights for mums-to-be have certain advantages. First of all, it should be mentioned that these tights are able to provide extra support for the back and the belly and relieve pain which some women might have when they gain weight. Second, these tights can reduce the size of one’’s buttocks as they are made of stretching and elastic materials. At the same time they make the appearance of the belly and the belly button smoother. Third, those women who like wearing dresses and skirts, can continue wearing them in colder seasons too. Maternity tights provide extra warmth as they fit women snugly and are made of cotton which makes them thicker.
Tights for expectant mothers, besides cotton, can be made of different materials. Cotton tights are warmer and can be worn in autumn and winter, spandex ones can stretch and cover growing bumps. Microfibre fabrics are breathable and make women feel fresh and comfortable. Tights come in various colour solutions from neutral brown, tan and black to some bright and glossy ones. Women can choose any colour to match any piece of clothes no matter whether it is an evening dress or a strict suit. Nowadays, mums-to-be can feel that they are being taken care of by designers of maternity tights, and all their worries about what to put on to look so stylish and fashionable as before their pregnancy can be left in the past.
