Computer Deals - How To Get The Best Deal On A New Computer or Laptop

By Helen Hecker

If you”re looking for the best deal on a new computer, the following tips will help you get the best price. With this article and a little bit of research you can save a lot of money on a computer or laptop.

First of all you want to take advantage of the search engines that are designed to help you find the lowest prices on laptops or other computers. These search engines are often called shopping bots.

The price you find for any current computer model is usually the regular price not a discounted or sales price, which is what you”re looking for. Determine the retail price for the model you”re considering by going to several sites that list that model and jot down the price range. The package would consist of the computer and monitor typically. A printer, accessories and service contract would be additional costs.

Once you know the price range and the lowest advertised price you can try to negotiate with the vendor or seller, Try to get a discount of at least $25 or so. The retailer may only make $50 on the sale so you may not have much bargaining room.

If possible also have them add a printer and accessories and then ask for a discount of $50 to $200. If you want a service contract you should be able to add that and have a lot more bargaining room. However service contracts are not recommended by many experts so proceed with caution.

You”ll want to look for a system that is already pre-built rather than selecting your own parts to be assembled. This is actually cheaper in the long run.

If you”re not paying cash look for some of the holiday long-term financing options. These can give you six months with no interest which may give you time to come up with the money. Holiday sales prices are often cheaper so you can save a lot of money if you buy then.

You”ll want to check the offers of manufacturer’’s rebates and especially those that don”t require you to buy the same brand of monitor and printer.

Although many experts suggest buying a poorly-rated brand that may have a slower speed and life but for the few dollars saved it is not be worth losing any data so always look for the best rated computers and laptops.

Look for clearance computer or laptop models that have a high rating.

Or can you get by with a repaired or refurbished laptop or computer model?

Find out if any brick-and-mortar vendors have floor ”demo” models for sale.

Retailers of name-brand computers or laptops may all offer the same price. Be aware that retailers are bound by rules and regulations and may not be able to discount, adjust or lower a price on a given new laptop or computer model.

If you”re buying a laptop or computer online make sure you add on all the shipping costs to the purchase price.

Prices may vary between computer models because of the quality of the parts, the marketing costs for the manufacturer and the quality of building it.

If you find a cheap computer model or cheap laptop, find out if the parts are refurbished or used. This has been an ongoing problem in the computer industry even in name-brands.

Check the brand names of the sound and video cards in the computer to see if they are lower quality brand names.

Make sure you get a warranty and especially for any computer purchase that is not in a box.

These tips will help you get the best deal on a computer or laptop .But keep in mind that in some situations you get what you pay for. Check out everything before buying online or offline. Again it’’s important to pay a little more and get a computer you trust that will be less likely not to have a hard drive crash.

How to Find Green Cleansers

By Stephanie Foster

While I enjoy making my own cleaning supplies, I know it’’s not for everyone, even when much of it is as simple as baking soda and vinegar. Maybe you like the scents of other cleansers or maybe you just can”t quite believe they”re effective enough.

But that doesn”t mean you can”t go green with your cleaning supplies.

There are a number of greener cleansers out there. Clorox may have a name for itself as the producer of some really nasty, toxic chemicals, but if you can get past that they have their Green Works line of products. You can get these locally at Home Depot and other stores. I”ve tried them, and they work fine.

If you”re buying products, do at least consider buying concentrated versions that you have to water down before use. This will at least cut down on the packaging and weight of shipping. It also saves you quite a bit of money. One of the Green Works products I bought, an all-purpose cleanser, can be diluted to 1:24 a bit and is still effective.

There are other products you can buy as well, such as the old, reliable Simple Green. I used that one for a long time before starting to make my own products.

When in doubt, look at the labels.

The very first thing I don”t want in a product is for it to be antibacterial. These can leave residues, encouraging resistant bacteria to grow, and don”t do any better a job of cleaning. With the residue left, it may even be doing worse. Just remember that a good soap allows you to wipe those germs right off the counter. Keep your cleaning cloths clean and you won”t be spreading too many germs about.

Besides, a few germs around are good for the immune system. It’’s the excess that is far more likely to make you or your family ill.

In addition, look for warning and danger labels. Right off the bat either of these tells you that your cleanser has something toxic in it. You”ll probably want to wear gloves when using such products, or better yet, find an alternative that’’s less toxic.

Caution labels are on many products. It’’s on my Green Works bottle, for example, because it’’s a potential eye irritant. Eyes are very easy to irritate.

I prefer to avoid ammonia, bleach, hydrochloric acid, chlorine, petroleum products and many other ingredients commonly found in cleaning products. I”m also not big on added fragrances, unless it’’s an essential oil such as I add when I use vinegar so my husband doesn”t complain about the scent.

A simple rule is that if you can recognize the source of the ingredients in your cleaning product, it’’s probably safer. Not always, as nature can come up with some really nasty toxins.

Just remember you don”t need products with special agents to make them foam up, or really harsh chemicals to get the job done. A bit of elbow grease and a natural product can do the job just as well. You won”t have to worry about what you”re sending down the pipes or in the trash if you pick your products more carefully.

A Lesson In How Not To Buy Online Furniture

By Sean Redfearn

I have had a lot of experience with buying online, and all seemed to go smoothly in the past, and I considered myself a happy online shopper, until I decided to buy furniture: or rather a sofa!

I have done this three times now, and all with horrific results.

Buying Furniture Online

I have purchased many weird and wonderful things online, from ebooks to yogurt, and most of it has always gone smoothly. Well, mostly…There have been times when a manufacturer has believed that a t-shirt in UK size “extra large”, wouldn”t have fitted a baby, nevermind an 18 stone man! But I digress, as I said, its usually been pain free until that is, I came to buying furniture.

Online Store Only Sells Barbie Furniture.

My first and worst experience was with a UK based firm, who had recently decided to compete with Ikea and had vastly expanded its range to keep up. They had sourced all their products quickly, and I am guessing very cheaply, and held a huge TV and magazine based assault on the public at large. They have a huge market share, and some of their more standard products, such as electronics, are very good. Plus these items don”t necessarily need a touch and a feel to make a purchasing decision, so things are a little easier.

Hammers At the Ready

I had wanted to buy some furniture, mainly a decent sized sofa, so I looked around both on and offline at various options, and all seemed to offer “build to order” and no one held any stock. Prior to this I had ordered and paid for a sofa (big and lovely corner five seater), but as we lived in a baseement flat, the segmented sofa option the salesman had assured us would fit round all corners and stairs, actually would have involved a saw and a big hammer to put it into practice. So we sent it back and got a full refund, after much arguing.
Back To Square One.

Tip 1: make sure you see the physical version of the sofa or any furniture, do not rely on pictures, and do not rely on the salesman; if he says its comes in pieces, ask him to show you.

We Deliver…On Time (ish)

Our next venture (by now my girlfriend had wanted to get involved as she didn”t want to miss out on any of the fun), was to order online without first seeing the actual product, and only looking hastily at the measurements etc. Well, we went for this option as they had them in stock, and it would only take 2 days for delivery.

After wasting a whole day sitting on the floor where my old sofa had been, the delivery guys finally turned up. I greeted them with a handshake and a numb bum and they proceeded to bring my prized new sofa down my winding stairs.

I began to unwrap the prized sofa once the delivery guys had gone and it was with some glee and awe that I removed the huge amount of packaging, a lot of packaging in fact; rather like peeling an onion, I was left with a sofa that a dwarf would find uncomfortable. Later when my girlfriend arrived home I pretended that everything was fine as we sat almost on top of each other to watch the latest episode of 24. We were stuck in the “bucket design” sofa, legs pressed against each others, and close enough to pass fleas without too much jumping on behalf of the flea. I had made a huge mistake, and it took an hour before I would admit it.

“Its Very Small”

“It’’s very small”, my helpful girlfriend pointed out, two millimetres from my nose and everything else. “Its fine”, I”d tried to reply, but I”d begun to see her point as I got up from the sofa with most of it attached to me.

Tip 2: check everything BEFORE the delivery guy goes, and before you sign for anything. Make sure its the model you wanted, the colour you wanted, and the style too.

“Whats a Refund?”

I rang the online store, and was greeted after ten minutes at 80p per minute of waiting. I explained the situation and the very helpful person passed me around to a few of her colleagues for fun, and I re-explained myself to them also. The crux came when I asked for my money back and asked that they come and pick it up. A silence that said a thousand words ensued. “Do you have the main packaging?”. “yes”. “Is it still in its packaging?” “no.”…
“Oh dear sir.”

Tip 3: Check the refunds and returns policy. If they don”t offer either, then go somewhere else.

We argued on for some time over the phone and in person and finally I gave up and bought ANOTHER sofa.

I never did get the refund as I had done something I shouldn”t have - I had sat on my purchase, and that had involved the removal of its packaging. But whats more important is - I didn”t read the ton of fine print, and not so fine print when it came to dimensions. Be very very careful.

Don”t make the stupid and easily avoidable mistakes I had made simply because you are in a hurry. A sofa or bed is going to give you a lot of years of good service hopefully; so take the time to get it right, and read the small print, ask questions, ask more questions, and get all the information YOU need, and not what the store thinks you need.

You have time, I promise.

Junior Gold Stocks Benefit from Stabilizing Equity Markets

By Chris Vermeulen

Junior gold stocks may finaly make a move. The New York Stock Exchange indicator for new lows reached an extreme of 1304 on Tuesday the 15th of July. That was even worse than the 1100 new lows reached on the 22nd of January. Such extremes spell one thing P-A-N-I-C.

Whilst its difficult to infer any far reaching conclusions about one day sell-offs, even panics, the odds now favour a bounce in very oversold equity markets. As for how high and how long the stock market will bounce is anyones guess, but here again, probabilities favour the market to move higher and longer than anyone expects so that sentiment indicators return to their old complacent Bullish state!

What will work during this period of relative calm?

We had noticed a very definite flight to safety since market volatility began in October 2007.

Firstly, a flight away from common Dow stocks to Gold Mining Stocks because gold is seen as world wide currency which is more secure that worthless paper money. The Dow stocks have slowly been decreasing in value for the past year as gold mining stocks have been increasing in value overall. Gold stocks is were the smart money is moving into.

Within the Gold market this has manifested itself as a flight to bullion and away from Gold Mining Stocks. Yes money had been moving gold stocks higher but the majority of gold investors are buying bullion or the gold bullion etf (actual gold bars) because it currently has lower risk than trading gold mining stocks. So gold bullion and the gold bullion etf’’s have been out performing the price of gold mining stocks for the past year even thought both Gold and gold stocks have increased in value.

Now that there is a good chance equity markets will stabilize, the trends will moderate and reverse. This means Junior Gold stocks prices should begin closing the valuation gap and discounting higher earnings based on $900+ Gold.

The remainder of 2008 looks set to be very bullish for Gold Stocks and Gold Stock Juniors Gold Stocks in particular! August to December are the best months for gold for the past 40 years so we are looking for higher prices in the near future.

Many investors do not like the thought of junior gold stocks because of their volatility. There is a solution for this and it is to trade gold etf funds. The are exchange traded funds which trade like a stock but allows your to own a piece of each gold mining company and it provides less volatility. The two main etfs are GLD and GDX ticker symbols.

What\’s the Cost of a Sauna

By Steven Walters

Specifically, what is the cost of a 4 person sauna. This is a larger sauna that is built for 4 people and typically will be installed in the corner of a room due to it’’s size and shape. There are many different standard models of the 4 person sauna or you can have one custom designed. Naturally the custom option is more expensive, but it is sometimes what is needed given the buyers” needs and space considerations. Either way, if you”ve got a large family or group of friends a larger 4 person sauna is just what you”ll want.

To get a deep relaxing heat throughout the entire sauna the 4 person sauna comes with multiple heating units, sometimes as many as 10, installed form the floor to the ceiling of the sauna. There are many families these days who are enjoying the health benefits and stress reduction that comes from having your own sauna.

If you”re considering buying a 4 person sauna it’’s best that you don”t cut corners on major factors like the material the sauna is constructed from. The best saunas are made from either Burmese hemlock or more commonly cedar. Both types of wood are fine grained and have a smooth texture that will keep the wood from absorbing moisture and cracking or warping.

Expect to pay $4000 and up for a quality 4 person sauna made in the U.S. You can find cheaper saunas that are made in Chine, but the quality of the materials used and the craftsmanship are usually inferior to the U.S. made saunas. You”ll find that even the design of Chinese saunas is inferior to the U.S. models. Because of the lower quality of these saunas you”ll get less benefit from the heat and steam of the sauna.

When looking at the heating plates in the sauna the most common material you”ll find is ceramic. You may also find heating units made from aluminum or carbon, however ceramic is generally regarded as superior for its heat emitting properties. Check to see how many heating plates are in the sauna you”re considering. A 4 person sauna should have a minimum of 6 heating plates to ensure even and all over heat distribution.

If you want your whole family to enjoy the relaxation, stress reduction and other benefits of a sauna then a quality 4 person sauna is just the thing for you and your family. Take the time to investigate various models and make yourself familiar with the differences between various types of saunas and you”ll be sure to find the perfect sauna for all of you.

3 Tips for Buying Saunas Online

By Steven Walters

Each year saunas are becoming more popular. And many people are finding that they can save large amounts of cash by going online to buy a sauna. Even though you have to factor in the cost of shipping, often online saunas end up being a bargain. And you can find sauna sales all over the internet. If you”re the one thinking of buying a sauna online them you”re in very good company with loads of others.

When you buy a sauna from the internet there are several tips you”ll want to keep in mind. These also apply to offline sauna purchases, but they become more important when you”re shopping online for a sauna. Buying a sauna is a major purchase, so do your research and it will pay major dividends once you”re ready to buy. Keep these three tips in mind.

1. When you first start to look for a sauna make sure you check out all the makes and models for the type of sauna you want. Of course this will take time, but by doing a complete search like this you”ll often save yourself not only time, but also headaches because you”ll end up with the perfect sauna for you and your family. Anyway, you can do all of this research online anyway so you”ll be in the comfort of your own home. Fire up your favorite search engine and take the time to get to know everything you can about all the saunas in your size and price range. Once you”re ready to purchase you”ll be glad you”ve done your homework because you”ll be able to buy your sauna with complete confidence, knowing that it’’s the right one for you.

2. Cedar is known as one of the best woods for a sauna so try to find the best cedar sauna you can. Hemlock, birch and poplar are also popular alternatives and may be a bit cheaper. Keep this in mind as you start to make your short list of potential saunas.

3. Some of you may be handy around the house, but once your sauna arrives you may want to consider having a professional to install it. Yes it will cost a bit more than doing it yourself, but you”ll get the assurance that your sauna is installed properly and you won”t need to worry about potential dangers from leaking or the electrical system. An improperly installed sauna is a tragedy just waiting to happen. So, save your money on the purchase of the sauna, but don”t take chances with the installation.

After doing some comparisons you”ll see that buying a sauna online is definitely the way to go if you want to save some money. There’’s no need to run around town from dealer to dealer looking for the right sauna and talking to numerous salesman. This is one purchase that can be made from the comfort of your own home.

The Dummies Guide To Buying A Telescope

By Koz Huseyin

Have you looked up at the heavens, seen all those stars, and wondered what the beauty of the universe looks like? There is no need to look at NASA images; instead you can see them for yourself with a telescope. But, how do you go about getting a telescope?

Telescopes are scientific instruments. And a good telescope will last far more years, than a cheap telescope. This is an important point to remember before we delve deeper into buying a telescope. Telescopes are fascinating scientific instruments available to all people, and the cheap telescopes in toy stores often get more people out of astronomy than they put in.

There are a few points to consider when buying a telescope. That is the space it takes up, the tripod, and astronomy. We will go into all the details, and here is what you will find in this article:
* The Telescope
* The Tripod And Mount
* Into Astronomy

* The Telescope
Often cheaper telescopes will try to sell you on magnification. It is a natural inclination to believe that magnification is important. After all, you want to see something far away, the magnification is what you want. But, with astronomy things work differently.

For example, think about a picture you may take digitally, a picture on the computer, etc. As you make that image bigger, it gets more blurry. This is same as what happens with magnification in telescopes. Imagine that! And the cheaper range telescopes want to sell you on magnification!

The most important aspect of how good the images you see through the telescope, is due to the lens or mirror, depending on the type of telescope you are looking to buy. For example with a Newtonian reflector (the type with a big mirror, and you look at the telescope through the side of the telescope), the size of the mirror is what is important.

The space the telescope occupies is another consideration that is often overlooked. A telescope may seem small, but in use, it can take up much more space than at first thought.

* The Tripod And Mount
The tripod and mount are essential considerations when choosing a model to buy. Without a bad tripod the best model will only ever be an average in use. Look for a sturdy tripod that does not move if the breeze hits it or if you accidentally tap it.

* Into Astronomy
A telescope is no use, unless you know where things are in the universe. There are some great books which can help you get the best out of your telescope.

Being A Shopaholic Entails Disadvantages

By Jim Brown

Recently, I had a friend telling me that she has spent almost all of her month’’s salary on shopping. I was a bit surprised because how can a person drop a month’’s earning in one day at the mall? Apparently, it is not only those rolling-in-riches celebrities and famous people who are at shopping like crazy, it is also us the poor schmucks who spend our days in the office who are addicted into shopping. But when can we say that shopping is too much? When is it considered an addiction?

One tell sign of being shopping addict is when shopping becomes a therapy. Not long ago, shopping was one of the new concepts that could light up our lives. Thus, during those times, when we shopped, we felt giddy happy because our minds were getting a rush. Then it all kind of went out of control with the advent of payday and week end sales. Now shopping is what we do when we are bored, tired, upset or angry. For some, it defeats or at least circumvents boredom and makes consumption an exercise in hope for more happiness and others including beauty and status. Compulsive buying disorder may be common nowadays; it is a form of uncontrollable and avoidable but progressive destructive behavior that masks deeper issues on self-esteem and others.

Just like any other activity like sports, going to the mall can flood the brain with dopamine which is released when something new and thrilling comes our way. A good bag that cost a hefty amount, an expensive shoes and a stack of books provides a shopaholic with new and exciting feeling. However, there people who does this shopping for therapy, experience waves of irresistible urges to stop inasmuch as they are being flooded with loads of unwanted stuff and rack up and sizeable debts from frequent shopping sprees leading to a consequence that are more problematic and to some extent life threatening.

Unlike other addictions, shopping is socially acceptable and at one point it sometimes is a status symbol. However, because of the current financial crisis that we are in, a little self restraints and will-power to stop the urge will come a long way. But the biggest source of worry is that this type of shopping and spending appears to becoming more and more than a norm, as evidence by the rising numbers of malls, increase in designer stores. For young professionals the motto now is no longer work hard to save for the future rather it is now work and earn hard and you get to spend harder.

So how do you manage the urge and stop yourself in falling into the pit of financial distress? Look for diversion. Search for other activities that would not hurt you pocket. Try tennis, going to the gym or other activities that will certainly make you divert your urge to buy unnecessary things. When going out on shopping, do not buy something just because it is cheap or on sale and leave your credit card at home. Saving up for that one special buy rather than buying lots of little things at once will certainly help you manage your finances.

However, when you feel that there is really something going on in you that make shopping your real therapy, why not face that problem of yours? It may be a crisis, a depleting self confidence or a self-pity issue. Try to ponder on them as ask yourself if the therapy that you know really does help, if not and it re-occurs from time to time, why not find someone who will help you out? That would certainly make you a better person in the end.

Evaluating Your Trading Performance And Progress

By Terry Leslie

The most obvious sign of performance and progress is a healthy account balance, provided that you are not drawing excessive funds from your bank account to keep your trading balance in check. It is human nature to want to look at healthy figures when you log in, but if all you are doing is pulling from one source to keep another afloat, it can be difficult to determine just how well you are actually doing. In some cases, it can be self deluding.

In order to accurately determine how you are handling the trading world, you need to fund your account and allow it to be self sufficient. If you are continuously dropping more money into it, you are liable to lose track of how much you have invested, how much you have lost, and how much you have gained. If you start an account with $20,000 and you find two months later you are barely scraping by on $5,000 then you have an accurate picture of two things.

First, you need to reevaluate your trading strategy and the information which you are basing you trades on. Second, it shows you very clearly exactly how much money you have lost. The same is true in reverse. If your account balance is down to $10,000 but you have $20,000 out there working for you, then obviously you are doing something right. This simple concept is an at a glance fix. You need to know how to evaluate your win loss ratio.

Honestly evaluating your performance and progress is a hard thing to accomplish without at least a little input from a concrete source. We all want to be successful in any venture we tackle. We often tend to put a mistake out of our mind, after all it was just a little one. Actually, there may have been five or six little ones that we aren”t counting. Using a figure to reflect your performance is concrete and irrefutable. There is no way to misinterpret your numbers game.

So, what if you are doing poorly and your numbers aren”t reflecting anything positive. Should you quit and go back to your day job? Naturally, this is an option but probably not one that will get you where you want to go. You put in money that you could afford to lose. After all, you are just learning. So instead of getting frustrated and quitting so early in the game, back up and start fresh. Really determine your goals, your strategies, and go get a little more education. Read more, conceptualize more, and make a few more empty trades and see how they might play out.

So, what if you”re doing really well? Should you increase your risk tolerance and start playing bigger and better? That is an option. However, this option may not get you where you want to go, either. When you are doing really well, that often tells you that you are doing something right. While risk is part of the game, increasing your risk tolerance too early and by too much might turn your game around, which isn”t something that you want.

Understand your win loss ratio. That means you need to know how many dollars you win for every one that you lose. This can only be done well and accurately via concrete information, which what your account balance reflects. Know that when you make a trade that you are going to write down the details, including the set up, the plan you executed, your emotional play, and your level of confidence, how much you executed in real time, not commissions and fees, and the final result.

Some traders leave an addendum space at the end to make a note about what they would do differently. Concrete monitoring is the only form of monitoring that doesn”t allow room for self inflated expectations, harsh judgment or yourself, of any type of mind trickery. This one action can mean the difference between scraping it off the bottom and bouncing back and blowing out your account.

Pros and Cons of Portable Saunas

By Steven Walters

Did you know that you can enjoy your own personal sauna these days no matter where you live. Stem and infrared portable saunas are both available in a variety of models that make it easy to enjoy the relaxation of a sauna even if you have limited space or a small budget. Portable saunas are both lightweight and affordable.

Below are the pros and cons of personal saunas for personal use.

The Pros

As I said, a portable sauna is lightweight meaning most anyone can move it when necessary. Today’’s portable saunas typically weigh anywhere from 15 to 65 pounds and are compact as well.

Portable saunas are very quick to heat up which means they also save you time since you don”t need to wait. With a traditional sauna it could take up to 30 minutes to come all the way to temperature, but a portable sauna takes just a short 5 minutes to heat up and you”re ready to go.

Portable saunas are tops in sauna convenience. In addition to being lightweight and compact they are also easy to set up. You can plug them right into your normal electrical outlets and away you go.

There’’s no need to worry about breathing hot air like in a normal sauna. I know that some people don”t like this, but in a portable sauna you typically sit or lie with your head outside the sauna. If you do want to cover your head most models have an optional head cover you can use to do this.

They are easy to store. Because they are so small and compact they don”t take up much space and you can store your portable sauna in a closet or unused corner of your room.

The Cons

Personal portable saunas have just two downsides that I can think of.

Those who are claustrophobic might not like the confined spaces of a portable sauna.

Portable saunas don”t offer the same intense heat that you would get from a traditional sauna and some people don”t like this. If you”re one of these people that enjoys that intense heat make sure you try out a portable sauna first because you might not be happy with the lack of intensity.

So if you”re looking for an easy and affordable way to get the health and relaxation benefits of a sauna you need to check out the personal portable saunas available. They may not be quite the same as a traditional sauna, but they sure are close and you can”t beat them for convenience and price.
