Men\’s Fashion Icons: Justin Timberlake

By Hendrik Pohl

If there ever was a Top 10 for men’’s fashion the same way there is for music, Justin Timberlake would most probably be a regular on both lists. Whether it’’s the half-done necktie with jeans or a dark business suit with white sneakers, JT has been responsible for more than a fair share of recent trends in men’’s fashion. And you can bet that this teeny bopper turned tastemaker will soon be at it again.

His Fashion Philosophy
Timberlake has been known to wear everything in men’’s fashion from the elegant (a three-piece suit with wingtips) to the egregious (think boy band bandannas). He’’s said in more than a few interviews that, as far as fashion is concerned, he”ll try out more or less anything under the sun.

From there you could try his famous sneakers-with-suits outfit by pairing a big, chunky pair of sneakers like Air Force Ones or Adidas Sambas with an otherwise regular slim gray or black suit.

Formal wear should never stay as one set or outfit. Learn to mix and match them with other pieces, like a pair of formal slacks with a white vintage tee and sneakers. A vest or waistcoat on a shirt, a necktie and dark jeans is another look that’’s often associated with Timberlake. It takes a bit of experimentation in front of the mirror, but you should trust your instincts and wear whatever combination looks good.

But even with all these apparel adventures, you should never let go of the more basic tenets of good fashion. Never compromise fit. Don”t combine too many patterns. Comfort should be paramount. Otherwise, you can feel justified in doing as
