How to Write the Perfect Online Shopping List for Christmas
By Sarah Gadey
Christmas is coming and fast. If you still have some serious gift shopping to do and would want to do it online, then you would do well to prepare in advance. Shopping online can be just as confusing as going into a real store. There are thousands of merchandise available and finding which one to buy as a gift for who can be a daunting task. Plus, there are temptations galore. Before you know it, you may have ended up shopping for yourself if you are not too careful. There are also great deals to be had if you know where to look.
Shopping online is best done while having a list on hand to guide you about what gifts to buy for the people you care about.
1. Write down the names of the people you will be giving gifts to so you can find out how many gifts you need to buy. This will also help you in determining your budget.
2. Next to the names of these people, write at least 2 gift ideas (what are 2 gifts that you would want to give) this will help you in case one of the gift ideas is unavailable or is too expensive. If you have no idea of what to give a person then just write the amount of money you are willing to spend in buying a gift for that person.
3. Get personal with your gifts. List gift ideas focused on what the recipient’’s interests and tastes.
4. Set a budget for your online shopping. You need to know how much you can afford to spend. There are many temptations online and you would not want to end up spending more than what you can afford. Once you have made a budget, you need to stick to it no matter what. Do remember that you may need to factor in the cost of wrapping paper and ribbons too.
5. Get coupons. Before you go shopping online, check out the online coupons sites. These sites lists discount codes for many online retailers and using them can help you save money while buying your gifts.
6. Compare sites. Search for the same item on different online shops to see where you can find a better deal. Then write down on your list the name of the site and the amount that item costs at that site. Remember that you are not yet shopping and are just browsing around. Keep these searches to under 30 minutes in order to stop yourself from wasting too much time on the net. Doing this will help you with your budget, too.
7. Check your list. Make sure that you have not kept anyone out of your list. Or if your budget is just too tight, then see which names you can cross out.
Your list is now ready and you can start your online gift shopping. Remember that Christmas is about sharing love and not about expensive gifts. That old saying that it is the thought that counts is still as true today as it was ages ago.
