Flower Delivery Tips and Facts
By Susan Mitchell
How much will you be charged for Valentines flower delivery? Always ask this when ordering flowers. A typical delivery charge runs from at least $4.00 to $8.00 or more, depending on how far they have to drive to make the delivery. Many florists offer discount flower delivery, especially if you order early.
With Valentine’’s Day drawing nigh, it’’s time to focus on sending that special expression of love to that wonderful person in your life. Whether you”re a male or female, let’’s take a look at some ideas about Valentines flowers.
That brings up a question: Do women send Valentines flowers? They sure do! Women send manly gifts like nuts and munchy things. They send little baskets with chocolates and nuts and fudges, adding a single rose for the guys. That has become extremely favored, so most florists have extended out in that direction.
What is the most sought-after Valentines flower? The red rose is by far the most favored, because it’’s the token of love. Some people feel that if you want to convey heart-felt love to your Valentine, a red rose is the only flower to send.
To impart the feeling of desire, choose pink. It conveys a soft, compassionate feeling, and is probably more proper for someone that is a little closer than just a casual friend. A pink rose will warm her heart and awaken that smoldering desire within her. If you want to send something to a casual friend, a yellow rose conveys friendship. It’’s a nice, easy gesture that sends a less passionate idea than red.
Of course, roses are not the only variety of flower that is given for Valentine’’s Day. Lilies are very favored, because they are especially scented and smell marvelous. Also very appreciated are mixed vases. A florist can make up an attractive arrangement with daisies, tulips, chrysanthemums, orchids, and other flowers. Just as long as it looks pleasant and conveys a romantic, loving feeling.
What about sending a live plant instead of cut flowers? Absolutely! There are many to choose from, including little mini rose plants. It’’s such a beautiful way to express your love to your Valentine by sending something that lasts.
What is the cost of sending flowers for Valentine’’s Day? You can figure around $15 as a starting cost, while the average price settles in around $40, which will buy you a beautiful half dozen roses or a mixed vase. If money is tight, consider a cash and carry purchase. You can buy a dozen roses for somewhere around $20 to $30, then add all kinds of fillers. There are lots of really wonderful greens that you can use to make your arrangement look dazzling. Arrange them in a nice vase, and it will look awesome. It’’s not going to be arranged like a professional does, but it will look nice. It’’s a good way to go if you”re on a strict budget.
However, if cost is not an issue, you can spend up to $150 or more.
As with most other products, you usually get what you pay for. A live flower purchased at a local discount store will obviously cost less, but the quality of the flower will not be the same as one from a florist. The flowers will not be as healthy, and as a result will not last as long. It pays to buy quality.
When is the best time to order flowers for Valentines? If you want to get the best selection, then it’’s urgent that you order at least a week to 10 days in advance. However, very few people actually do that. If you wait until the last minute, you are not going to get what you want. It will probably be sold out, and since this is an extremely hectic, stressful time for florists, your request for something that’’s already sold out will put more stress on the situation.
A good rule of thumb is that if you want something in particular, call ahead. Don”t wait until the last minute. A lot of florists offer incentives if you order a week or more in advance, so that may save you a little money as well.
What about ordering online? Online floral orders are a perfectly safe and reliable way to purchase your flowers for Valentines Day. Online floral orders are handled through a nationwide computer network system, so if you place an order online, a local florist will actually receive the order, design and deliver it to your door. Just remember to get your order placed early to avoid any last minute disappointments because the flower you want is sold out.
Valentine’’s Day is the one day out of the year specifically celebrated for romance. What is the most romantic thing you can do to express your love to that special Valentine in your life? Send flowers, of course! Surprise her (or him) with a stunning bouquet of flowers!
