Disco music and dance has had its profound impact and influence on the music lovers in the 60s ad 70s. It cast its shadow on almost all forms of dance and music genres since then. Along with the music, the Disco culture and style of dressing up too became a rage among both men and women in the United States of America.

Disco, a form of dance music, is said to have originated in the United States among the African American, hippie and Hispanic communities. Disco, thus had a mix of all these cultures from styles to dressing in flashy outfits. All I know is that you can ask any baby boomer about it and they will strike a pose with a smile on their face!

It was a time men and women could dress as flashy as they wanted. Everyone had pride in what they wore and took the time to get the right look to attract the opposite sex while out on the town.

With the popularity of the Disco music and dance, and many movies made based on the Disco theme, music lovers and youngsters in America and other countries started following the Disco costumes. They tried to imitate the singers and dancers by dressing up in similar costumes.

It had mass-based popular music in the 70s by such groups as the Bee Gee’’s with Staying Alive sound track. The sexy Disco costume became as popular as its music. Everyone took the time to style themselves in Disco outfits and radical footwear for the time.

Bell bottoms with long hair, a pair of platforms, tights, a large pair of sunglasses, some shining gold with T-Shirts having bold prints of their stars, stars names etc. became a fashion statement.

Your Disco outfit would not be complete without a colorful long curly or wavy wig. Afro wig, with a tiny curl was a rage among Disco lovers which gave them a perfect Hippie look.

With the opening of Disco Clubs and dance Clubs, people started flocking these clubs. Many look a likes of Elvis Presley, The Bee Gees singing group, Donna Summer and Amanda Lear were a common scene. They would go to any length to dress up in a disco costume that had great influence on them.

The costumes also have some of them with lettering ,I am a Disco Dancer, head bands with D for Disco, T Shirts and Jackets embossed with DISCO sold like hot cakes. Disco chains were also a range among students then.

Disco Costumes also became sexy in its looks. Adult Disco Halloween costumes and Adult Disco Party costumes, especially for women, made its entry in the 80s. Women had a lot of choice to choose from a wide and colorful variety of sexy disco costumes that could lead you to any party in town.

Even as different genres of music have reached the ears of music lovers, Disco music and dance is still alive. Am old Disco band in New York has been keeping the spirits of Disco alive by holding weekend Disco nights where the performers as well as the audience turn up in Disco costumes. Different themes are selected each week for the costume from Bell bottoms with large aviator glasses to colored wigs with whackie jackets and the Hippie style.

Disco Costumes are sure to bring back the glory of the 70s and 80s in music and dance the evening away in tights complimented by platforms. So, what are you waiting for? If you are a lover of disco, just get jazzed up in a Disco costume and spread the aura.
