The word: gemstone always evokes the thought of magnificence and beauty in me. Perhaps this is because as a figure of speech, the term gem has always been used to qualify something precious or something particularly important, like the sentence my daughter is such a gem. To say that obtaining these minerals is quite hard would be an understatement. When you see a gem like the ruby, what first grabs your attention? I would say that the answer is quite simple: its color. In its truest form, a ruby is never pale red. It is always the kind of red that is arresting, because of the intensity that it shows the color. Sometimes, it is even described as blood red.

It is the same thing with emeralds. The intense green tinge that they bring about is certainly beautiful to look at. Another property that makes gems beautiful and highly valued is their brilliance. Although colorless, diamonds are stunning because of the brilliant aspect that the mineral brings to life. When hit by the light, it literally sparkles. It draws attention to itself, and to the person wearing it.

The one big advantage of buying and having colored stone jewelry is that they will never fail to capture attention and inspire awe. The downside, on the other hand, is their often-high prices. But if it is something you can readily afford, they can be well worth the price.
